Description

Incarceration has reached epidemic proportions in this country. Most individuals who are incarcerated are men; most of those men are fathers, and many will go in and out of jail or prison multiple times, without much support from family or community with re-entry. Additionally, much of the family support workforce are women, who have less experience working with fathers. This workshop will provide an overview of this topic from multiple perspectives, including first person narratives from those with lived experience, direct practice examples, and community strategies and policy efforts. Participants will be guided to consider opportunities to develop or adapt policies and practices within their agencies to better support families where fathers have been incarcerated.
